Diabetes Dictionary: ACE inhibitors
ACE (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme) inhibitors
These prescription medicines control high blood pressure (hypertension),
which is a major risk factor for heart disease. If you have diabetes, you need
to keep your blood pressure below 130/80 because you’re already at higher risk
of developing heart disease than people without diabetes. (Everyone should keep
their blood pressure below 130/80, but
especially people with diabetes!) This page last updated 2/12/08 04:08 PM
